Fresh Category Manager

About the role

The Fresh Category Manager will lead strategy and procurement for fresh food categories—including fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood and dairy—within a retail or e‑commerce environment. The focus is on driving sales, profitability and reducing waste through effective assortment planning and supply‑chain coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies and procurement plans for the fresh food portfolio.
• Analyse market trends, consumer demand and competition to optimise product assortment and improve sales and profitability.
• Manage supply‑chain relationships, negotiate with suppliers, control costs and optimise supply channels.
• Monitor inventory turnover, design promotional tactics to increase turnover and minimise waste.
• Collaborate with procurement, logistics, marketing and other departments to ensure smooth product supply, quality and market promotion.
• Stay current on industry trends, policies and regulations to ensure compliance and continuous process optimisation.
• Lead, coach and develop the team to enhance professional capabilities and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in marketing, supply‑chain management, food science or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in category management or procurement within the fresh food industry, preferably in retail, Q‑commerce, e‑commerce or supermarkets.
• Strong understanding of market trends, supply‑chain systems and category‑management methodologies for fresh foods.
• Excellent negotiation, data‑analysis and market‑insight abilities.
• Proven communication, coordination and team‑management experience with a high sense of responsibility and ability to work under pressure.
