Head Accountant – Doha, Qatar

About the role

We are looking for a seasoned Head Accountant to lead our accounting, finance, and payroll functions in Doha. The successful candidate will ensure accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, and compliance with local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow monitoring and financial analysis.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Direct payroll processing, including WPS salary transfers.
• Coordinate month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Ensure compliance with Qatar tax laws and coordinate external audits.
• Monitor project costs, expenses and profitability.
• Maintain and improve internal financial controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Qatar.
• Strong knowledge of payroll, WPS, taxation, budgeting, audit and IFRS.
• Experience in real‑estate, construction or trading sectors is a plus.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA or CIMA are advantageous.
• Highly accurate, trustworthy, professional and detail‑oriented.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Familiarity with WPS payroll platform.
