Head of Project Engineering (Utilities)

About the role

The Head of Project Engineering (Utilities) will lead multi‑discipline activities for the Utilities & Infrastructures delivery team on an on‑shore project based at Doha HQ. Reporting to the Project Management Team, this senior position ensures engineering, procurement and construction are executed on schedule, within budget and to the highest safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate multi‑discipline engineering, procurement and construction activities with the EPC contractor.
• Monitor project schedules, risk registers, fabrication tracking, mechanical erection and SDR progress, using KPIs to detect deviations.
• Support Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning teams to ensure clear understanding of execution plans.
• Communicate technical issues, risks and performance metrics through weekly and monthly delivery reports.
• Apply risk‑management techniques and make decisions that impact multiple disciplines.
• Uphold the project safety program, lead safety culture initiatives and participate in safety walks.
• Manage change processes, document design changes and assess associated risks.
• Oversee equipment testing at vendor sites, visit fabrication workshops and evaluate EPC contractor performance against milestones, safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale utilities or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies and risk management.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to senior management and coordinating with contractors.
• Commitment to safety excellence and ability to drive a safety‑first culture.
