IRB and Research Access Lead

About the role

The IRB and Research Access Lead is responsible for overseeing the Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes, ensuring ethical and regulatory compliance of research projects, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. This role plays a pivotal part in maintaining high standards of research governance within the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain policies and practices aligned with international norms for legal and ethical compliance.
• Oversee IRB operations, including meeting scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute documentation.
• Ensure timely review of research protocols and informed consent documents.
• Coordinate initial, continuing, and adverse event reviews with the IRB committee.
• Guide the research office team on process adherence and project tracking.
• Handle IRB and Ministry of Public Health approval processes.
• Follow up on progress reports for IRB renewal or project closure.
• Ensure research projects meet ethical and methodological standards as required by law.
• Adhere to document control policies and participate in regular reviews.
• Perform other reasonable tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 6‑8 years of full‑time experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, human research, or administration, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Certified IRB Professional (CIP) certification.
• Knowledge of the Qatari legal system is an advantage.
• Excellent written communication skills; Arabic proficiency is a plus.
