Legal Specialist – Commercial & Construction Contracts

About the role

The Legal Specialist will be accountable for reviewing, analysing, drafting and negotiating contracts across Qatar Airways Group and its subsidiaries. Working closely with internal departments and the Group Legal Department, the role provides impartial legal advice on commercial, corporate and construction matters.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractual templates from a contract law perspective across jurisdictions, including Qatar and England & Wales.
• Negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Draft, negotiate and manage contracts in line with corporate and legal requirements to protect business interests.
• Review, draft and negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers for facilities management, IT, manpower supply, equipment, and professional services.
• Identify commercial and legal risks and escalate matters when appropriate.
• Resolve disputes, recommend improvements to contracting processes, and manage external counsel.
• Review third‑party terms and assist stakeholders in interpreting contractual provisions.
• Advise internal stakeholders throughout the RFP process, including selection of legal terms, negotiation of deviations, and preparation of final contract packages.
• Perform other department duties as directed by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
• Qualified lawyer in a recognized common‑law jurisdiction.
• Experience in a law firm or dedicated legal environment, preferably within a medium or large matrixed organization.
• Strong commercial legal knowledge of general commercial and construction contracts.
• Proven track record handling complex issues and negotiations.
• Ability to multi‑task, meet deadlines and work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and the broader MS Office suite.
• Strong legal drafting abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills.
