Managing Director – Country Head, Shipping Agency (Qatar)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially driven Managing Director / Country Head to lead and grow our shipping agency operations in Qatar. The role carries full P&L responsibility and will shape the strategic direction of the business within the container liner and shipping agency sector.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall business operations for the Qatar entity.
• Drive profitability, revenue growth and operational excellence.
• Own complete P&L management and financial performance.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with shipping lines, port authorities and key customers.
• Manage commercial activities including client acquisition, trade development and agency partnerships.
• Oversee vessel operations, port agency activities, documentation and service delivery.
• Lead and mentor local operational and commercial teams.
• Identify new market opportunities and strategic partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with local maritime regulations and corporate governance standards.
• Coordinate closely with regional leadership teams based in Dubai.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in shipping agencies or container liner companies.
• Proven track record in P&L management, business development and client acquisition.
• Experience managing multiple offices, business units or legal entities.
• Background in container shipping lines or shipping agency operations – mandatory.
• Master Mariner qualification is a plus, especially when combined with commercial or operational experience ashore.
• Forwarding, logistics, oil & gas or warehousing experience will not be considered.
