Mechanical Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment within a water‑treatment or desalination plant.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors and piping systems.
• Maintain reverse‑osmosis (RO) plant equipment such as high‑pressure pumps, booster pumps, pressure vessels, RO skids, membranes, filters, strainers and chemical dosing systems.
• Carry out equipment alignment, lubrication, condition monitoring and laser‑alignment checks.
• Participate in commissioning, startup and shutdown activities and respond to emergency breakdowns.
• Assist in root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and complete maintenance reports in the CMMS.
• Coordinate with operations, electrical and instrumentation teams while following permit‑to‑work and HSE procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• 3–5 years of experience in desalination, water‑treatment, power plants, oil & gas or similar industrial facilities.
• Experience with RO desalination systems is preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs and technical manuals.

Required skills

• Preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance.
• Pump, motor, valve and compressor overhaul and repair.
• Laser alignment, dial‑gauge measurement and condition monitoring.
• Use of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Pump vibration analysis and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Working with PVDF and CPVC materials.
• Knowledge of heat exchangers, cranes and lifting equipment.
