Network Technician

About the role

The Network Technician will be responsible for the operational support and maintenance of the organization’s passive network infrastructure. This role ensures optimal network performance, reliability, and timely resolution of cabling issues across various sites and events.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair UTP, FOC, multi‑core and LAN cabling solutions.
• Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of existing cabling systems to sustain network performance.
• Perform site inspections, prepare detailed reports and Bills of Quantities for new installations and maintenance tasks.
• Manage inventory of network components, ensuring availability for installations and repairs.
• Design and implement cabling overlays for special events such as sports venues.
• Prepare and update network drawings, patching matrices and perform patching and mounting of active devices.
• Provide remote support and communicate technical information clearly to colleagues and clients.

Required profile

• 6–8 years of experience in IT support and customer handling.
• 2–3 years in a similar role focused on passive network infrastructure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Computer Science or Electronics & Communication).
• Professional IT certification such as CISA or equivalent.

Required skills

• Expertise in installing, maintaining and repairing UTP, FOC, multi‑core and LAN cabling.
• Proficiency with passive network tools including cable testers, crimpers and Fluke testers.
• Ability to design network cabling layouts and produce accurate network drawings and patching matrices.
• Experience in conducting site inspections and generating Bills of Quantities.
• Knowledge of patch cord management and mounting of active devices.
