Principal Software Engineer (Medical Imaging)

About the role

Akura Medical is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced medical imaging systems. You will act as a technical leader, driving innovation in imaging algorithms and 3D visualization while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define architecture, design, and integration of scalable medical image processing systems.
• Develop and implement imaging algorithms, visualization tools, and system components.
• Collaborate with R&D, clinical, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to align technical deliverables.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and trade‑off analyses.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices.
• Partner with external vendors on imaging initiatives.
• Create and execute testing, verification, and validation protocols.
• Contribute to technical documentation and regulatory submissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or related field (M.S. preferred).
• 15+ years of experience in medical imaging systems design and development.
• Strong knowledge of imaging modalities such as X‑ray, MRI, and ultrasound.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary, regulated environments.
