Rig Operations Manager

About the role

The Rig Operations Manager (Rig Superintendent) leads the performance, profitability and safety of assigned drilling rigs. This senior position oversees all aspects of rig activity, from drilling and well completion to logistics and client relations, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day drilling operations and well‑completion activities to achieve technical success.
• Manage rig performance, profitability and operational integrity.
• Ensure strict compliance with quality, health, safety and environment (HSE) standards.
• Lead, motivate and develop multiple drilling crews, including subcontractors.
• Coordinate rig logistics, supply chains and external support services.
• Act as primary on‑site contact for clients, building strong relationships and addressing stakeholder needs.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in the oil field with a proven track record of leading multiple drilling crews.
• Hands‑on expertise in all phases of wellbore operations and drilling performance optimisation.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and a demonstrable commitment to safety leadership.
• High school diploma required; technical degree or diploma in drilling technology or related engineering preferred.
• Valid IWCF or IADC Well Control Certificate at the Supervisor level; additional industry‑recognised drilling or HSE certifications are a plus.
