Senior Commissioning Engineer (Electrical)

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer (Electrical) will lead commissioning activities on oil and gas projects, applying best practices to improve the discipline across the organization. Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the role combines on‑site inspections, testing, and troubleshooting with mentorship of less‑experienced colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal Commissioning Engineer in preparing home‑office deliverables.
• Participate in walk‑down inspections, punch listing, and testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument components on site.
• Develop and maintain manuals, start‑up spares, consumables, and commissioning procedures.
• Perform equipment system checks, functional testing, and resolve operational issues during commissioning, start‑up and performance testing.
• Supervise craft personnel for pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate activities with other engineers, the client, and construction/fabrication teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 8‑15 years of oil & gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• At least 5 years in a chemical, refinery, or oil & gas processing facility.
• Minimum 2 years of commissioning and start‑up experience in the same sectors.
• Strong understanding of commissioning, completions, and basic construction and O&M concepts.
