Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Plant (CCGT)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead technical design and engineering services for Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant projects. The role ensures technical excellence, compliance with QatarEnergy standards, and alignment with HSE, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver detailed electrical designs for CCGT power plants, including high‑voltage (up to 400 kV) systems.
• Specify large transformers (>500 MVA) and generator circuit breakers (22–24 kV).
• Design auxiliary systems such as DC/AC UPS, emergency diesel generators, bus ducts, capacitor banks, lighting, earthing, and cable routing.
• Ensure compliance with KAHRAMAA and international grid codes, covering power control, synchronization, stability, fault ride‑through, island operation, and black‑start capabilities.
• Perform RMS/EMT studies, protection and control scheme design, tariff metering, and SCADA integration.
• Lead lightning protection design (IEEE 998, IEC 62305) and 400 kV overhead line/cable system analysis, including transient analysis (IEC 60071) and cable bonding (IEEE 575).
• Conduct SAFOP, RAM, ECM/EMI studies and lead design reviews and technical workshops.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience on large‑scale power plant projects.
• Strong knowledge of KAHRAMAA grid code and international standards.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively.

• SAFOP, RAM analysis, ECM/EMI studies.
• Collaboration with OEMs such as Siemens, GE, and MHI.
