Senior Petrophysicist

About the role

The Senior Petrophysicist will lead logging operations for the offshore Idd El‑Shargi field, ensuring high‑quality data acquisition and rapid petrophysical analysis to support drilling, work‑over and reservoir surveillance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise open‑hole and cased‑hole logging operations, including wireline, MWD/LWD and production logging.
• Develop cost‑effective data acquisition plans for ongoing drilling and rig‑less reservoir surveillance.
• Provide quick petrophysical interpretation to guide completion strategies during drilling.
• Generate detailed post‑operation reports for the reservoir management team.
• Update and support the Idd El‑Shargi studies team and contribute to integrated field‑development studies.
• Ensure timely delivery of high‑quality data from service providers for corporate archives.
• Act as an active member of the interdisciplinary reservoir management team.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of oil‑and‑gas experience, with at least 6 years in petrophysical studies and operations.
• Strong understanding of open‑hole (wireline, MWD/LWD), cased‑hole and production logging tools.
• Ability to evaluate and interpret image logs and perform quality control of petrophysical data.
• Experience deploying new petrophysical technologies and methodologies.
• Proven teamwork skills in a multicultural environment and effective communication with peers, field staff and management.

• Advanced logging techniques (open‑hole, cased‑hole, MWD/LWD, production logging).
• Image log interpretation.
• CCAL and SCAL evaluation.
• Geostatistics and 3D geological/property modeling (deterministic and stochastic).
• Horizontal well technology and geo‑steering.
• Carbonate reservoir analysis.
• Statistical and pattern‑recognition methods (neural networks, fuzzy logic, multidimensional histograms).
• Software: IP, Techlog, Geolog, Petroworks, Openworks, Zmap+, Petrel, RMS, Emeraude Kappa.
