Static Mechanical Engineer – Heavy Process Plant

About the role

SPIE Global Services Energy is seeking a Static Mechanical Engineer to provide high‑level technical expertise for stationary equipment and piping systems in its Qatar manufacturing facility. The role focuses on ensuring plant reliability, supporting major turnarounds, and guaranteeing compliance with international design codes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve design calculations, data sheets, drawings and specifications for pressure vessels, heat exchangers and tanks.
• Generate and validate P&IDs, material specifications and 3D layout models in line with ASME, ANSI and API standards.
• Perform piping flexibility and stress analysis, manage changes through the MOC process and supervise field welding, PWHT and NDT activities.
• Define technical scope for static equipment during turnarounds, develop inspection/repair procedures and support fitness‑for‑service evaluations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a heavy continuous‑process chemical, petrochemical or refinery environment.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) for technical reporting and coordination with international vendors.
• Experience in the fertilizer sector (ammonia, urea or nitrates) is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with PV Elite, CAESAR II and NozzlePRO.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div 1 & 2, ASME B31.3, API 650/620 and TEMA standards.
