Sustainability Specialist

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a Sustainability Specialist to join its Certification (CER) sustainability service line in the Middle East region. The role is country‑based (Cairo or Doha) and reports to the local head of CER while being functionally aligned with the MCA Director of Sustainability. You will act as the primary CER sustainability presence, delivering advisory services, developing proposals, and supporting the brand in sustainability circles.

Key responsibilities

• Lead carbon accounting, GHG baseline assessments and Scope 1/2/3 inventories (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol).
• Develop organisational and product carbon footprints, decarbonisation roadmaps, and ESG strategies.
• Conduct ESG materiality assessments, CDP/SBTi alignment, and sustainability report assurance (ISAE 3000, ISSA 5000).
• Perform CBAM exposure assessments, supply‑chain ESG due diligence, and IFRS S2 readiness assessments.
• Deliver GHG verification audits and CER certification assessments following BV methodology.
• Prepare technical deliverables such as verification reports, gap analyses, and client presentations.
• Support business development by drafting proposals, responding to RFPs, and building a local pipeline.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree (e.g., environmental science, engineering, sustainability).
• Proven experience in carbon accounting, ESG reporting, or sustainability assurance.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work client‑facing.
• Fluency in English; Arabic is a plus.
