Accountant

About the role

Madar Building Materials, the flagship company of Al-FOZAN GROUP, is one of the largest importers of wood, steel, aluminum and insulation materials in Saudi Arabia and the wider region. It is looking for a full-time, on-site Accountant based in Doha, Qatar, to handle daily accounting operations and support the building materials operations.

Key responsibilities

• Record transactions, manage accounts payable and receivable and maintain accurate general ledger entries.
• Prepare financial statements, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and reconcile bank and vendor accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting standards, and assist with internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial data, analyse variances and support decision-making.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA or CMA are an advantage.
• Experience in construction, building materials or trading environments is beneficial, especially in the GCC region.
• Ability to work on-site in Doha, manage multiple priorities and maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.

Required skills

• General ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliation and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, and solid MS Excel skills for reporting, analysis and data validation.
• Knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS or GAAP, and understanding of taxation and compliance requirements.
• Analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, with attention to detail.
