Assistant Groups & Events Manager

About the role

Kempinski is looking for an Assistant Groups & Events Manager in Doha, Qatar. The role supports the concentrated sales efforts of the Groups and Events Sales Team and extends that support to other professional sales team members when requested. It is a permanent, full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Groups and Events in managing the department, especially in the Director's absence, and attend meetings and client events in their place.
• Receive, qualify and coordinate event and group requests (leads, RFPs, etc.) and handle them within five business hours according to the relevant standards.
• Apply the Kempinski MICE SOPs from Group Enquiry to Contracting and ensure the best use of meeting and conference rooms.
• Carry out site inspections with potential MICE clients together with the Field Sales department and realize upsell opportunities to meet and exceed budget goals.
• Maintain requests in the Opera S&C system, create activities to keep bookings active, and generate proposals and contracts.
• Follow up on proposals within 24 hours, handle enquiries through negotiation and contracting, and hand over converted business to the Event Manager or Groups & Events Coordinator with all relevant information.
• Conduct exit interviews with important customers, cross-sell to other Kempinski Group hotels, run regular competition checks and review monthly results and forecasts.
• Maintain LOS/CAN and UNC business and perform other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in luxury hotels.
• Experience in Groups & Events management, reservations or sales preferred.
• Proactive attitude towards achieving event and group revenue goals.
