Country Officer & Banking Head – Qatar

About the role

The Country Officer & Banking Head (CCO) for Qatar leads Citi’s franchise in the country and heads the Corporate Banking business for Qatar and Oman. Reporting to the Middle East and Pakistan Sub‑Cluster Head, the role combines business development, risk oversight, and stakeholder management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute Citi’s client and business strategy in Qatar, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and local regulations.
• Maintain and enhance relationships with clients, government officials, regulators, media, and employees.
• Identify, assess, mitigate, and communicate risks, establishing appropriate control mechanisms.
• Oversee governance, risk management, compliance obligations, and regulatory reporting for country‑based legal entities.
• Lead and coordinate governmental and regulatory relationships.
• Drive talent agenda, employee engagement, and franchise‑wide talent development.
• Lead response to crises or disasters affecting the franchise.
• Protect Citi’s reputation and manage all business lines, product lines, and functions operating in the country.

• Proven ability to build and sustain high‑trust relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong leadership presence across the franchise, serving as a role model.
• Experience managing large matrix teams and delivering revenue growth.
• Demonstrated judgment in decision‑making that aligns with Citi’s mission and vision.
