Dimensional Control Engineer

About the role

The Dimensional Control Engineer will lead and manage dimensional survey activities for structural assemblies and piping spools, ensuring all components meet specified dimensions and tolerances. This role is critical for guaranteeing the accuracy of fabricated structures and marine interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan and implement dimensional survey programs in line with project specifications and schedules.
• Review and interpret drawings, models and specifications to create comprehensive Dimensional Control/Measurement Plans.
• Execute surveying and dimensional verification during fabrication, assembly and installation phases.
• Ensure strict compliance with the Dimensional Control Inspection & Test Plan (DC ITP) and update it as needed.
• Validate and approve dimensional control reports and maintain traceable records.
• Manage survey requests, ensure timely completion and accurate documentation.
• Verify calibration and certification of surveying instruments (Leica, SOKKIA, Topcon).
• Coordinate with client representatives, production teams, quality inspectors and fabrication leads to resolve discrepancies.
• Supervise and mentor senior dimensional controllers, providing technical guidance.
• Support fit‑up, alignment and weld visual inspections prior to assembly.

Required profile

• Proven experience in dimensional control or survey engineering within construction or fabrication projects.
• Ability to lead teams, mentor staff and ensure high‑quality deliverables.
• Strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Leica, SOKKIA and Topcon surveying equipment.
• Dimensional survey planning and execution.
• Measurement plan development and DC ITP compliance.
• Fit‑up, alignment and weld visual inspection techniques.
