Director of Operations - Rooms

About the role

Kempinski is hiring a Director of Operations - Rooms in Doha, Qatar. The role leads a division covering 283 luxury keys, Housekeeping & Laundry, Front Office, Safety & Security and Spa & Recreation, and sets luxury service benchmarks, drives rooms-related ancillary revenues, optimizes operational margins and maintains asset presentation and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end guest journey and audit SOPs against ultra-luxury benchmarks such as Forbes Travel Guide and Leading Hotels of the World, using NPS and quality audit data to improve service.
• Oversee Front Office, Concierge, Guest Relations, Butler Services and Valet; Housekeeping and Laundry; Spa and Wellness; Recreation and Activities; and Safety and Security.
• Partner with the Director of Revenue Management and Sales to maximize RevPAR, own the Rooms Division P&L, set budgets and forecasts, and drive ancillary revenue from spa, retail, cabanas and activities.
• Work with Engineering and Facilities on preventive maintenance and refurbishment, and with F&B on in-room dining and amenity service.
• Train staff, manage contractors and plan succession within the division.

Required profile

• 8-10 years of progressive luxury hospitality management, including 3-5 years as Director of Rooms or Director of Operations in a 5-star international hotel or resort.
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related field; a Master's or executive management credential preferred.
• Health and safety management certification (OSHA, IOSH or local equivalent) and First Aid/CPR awareness; luxury brand service auditor certification is advantageous.

Required skills

• Property management systems such as Opera Cloud and Micros, spa management systems such as Book4Time, and revenue management tools.
• Strategic planning, financial analysis, crisis management and strong attention to detail.
