Engineer I – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Engineer I provides maintenance support for guest rooms and hotel facilities, ensuring all equipment and infrastructure operate safely and efficiently. This role involves responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and maintaining inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and attend guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, mechanical room equipment, and building systems.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines; carry necessary equipment and radios.
• Identify, locate, and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved programs.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and clean work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, plumbing, electrical components, and guestroom items.
• Program TVs, manage housekeeping and engineering inventory, and use Lockout/Tagout procedures before work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting; hotel engineering experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb unassisted and perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and stairs.
