Field Service Engineer - Mechanical Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine

About the role

Baker Hughes is looking for a Field Service Engineer for its mechanical heavy-duty gas turbine business. You will advise and counsel customers on pre-defined maintenance activities, which may also include testing, adjustment, programming and similar services agreed with the headquarters technical assistance team. The internal title for this role is Field Specialist IV - SVS - HDGT.

Key responsibilities

• Handle mechanical inspections including CI, HGPI and MI for heavy-duty gas turbines and their auxiliaries
• Plan and prepare schedules with customers for all planned maintenance activities
• Troubleshoot and answer technical queries from end users with the technical support team
• Lead discussions with customers on mechanical NICs/TILs and follow up until completion
• Maintain a documented history of mechanical modifications and write quality field service reports
• Support end-user operations and maintenance staff with diagnostics and maintenance issues
• Perform geometric dimensional checks of foundations, equipment and skids, including levelling and alignment
• Support erection, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of gas turbines and auxiliaries (lube oil, starting, fuel gas systems, filter house, water wash)
• Advise on interpreting drawings for installation optimization

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• More than 7 years of relevant experience in oil and gas, power, refinery or turbomachinery
• Able to perform major inspections and overhauls on HDGT models Fr 5/2, Fr 6B, Fr 7E and/or Fr 9E
• Able to perform laser alignments and borescope inspections
