Head of Ammonia

About the role

The Head of Ammonia will lead the ammonia production plant in Mesaieed, overseeing all operational activities and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective output. Reporting to senior management, the role combines strategic planning, team leadership, and hands‑on problem solving to meet production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead and manage operations teams to achieve production targets while optimizing processes and controlling costs.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on operating conditions and production progress.
• Develop, gain approval for, and monitor production and expenditure budgets.
• Define organization structures, staffing levels, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate short‑ and medium‑term plant operations with maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Review and approve new or enhanced plant procedures to improve efficiency.
• Maintain relationships with process and equipment suppliers to stay informed of developments.
• Serve as technical expert for diagnosing and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Train, develop and appraise plant staff to maximise performance.
• Act as incident commander during emergencies and lead subsequent investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in production management.
