Head of Chartering

About the role

The Head of Chartering will lead the ship chartering, commercial operations and shipping agreements for Nakilat, coordinating with fleet, legal and other functions. The role focuses on optimizing vessel utilization, developing new chartering opportunities and maintaining key client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute chartering strategy to maximize fleet utilization and earnings across owned, JV and chartered vessels.
• Negotiate shipping contracts and charter party terms, ensuring compliance and protecting company interests.
• Oversee ongoing activities for time charter parties, pooling agreements, commercial management agreements and post‑fixture agreements.
• Identify new trading routes, track industry trends and support investment projects.
• Manage a team, ensuring performance, training and compliance with QHSE policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in oil/gas transportation, including 3‑5 years in LNG/LPG tanker chartering and commercial management.
• Strong track record of chartering experience and an established client network.
• Excellent understanding of international maritime conventions, EHS standards and total quality management.
