High School Social Studies & English Teacher (Start Aug 2026)

About the role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated High School teacher to deliver Social Studies and English programmes starting 1 August 2026. The successful candidate will join a vibrant international community and uphold the academy’s core values of excellence, cultural awareness, and student well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Social Studies and English curriculum, ensuring up‑to‑date subject knowledge.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
• Maintain accurate records of curriculum plans, attendance, assessments and teaching resources.
• Assess, record and report on student progress, adapting instruction to meet individual needs.
• Utilise media and technology effectively within the classroom.
• Provide guidance on educational matters and support student well‑being.
• Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed of progress.
• Participate in co‑curricular and extra‑curricular activities and school events.
• Collaborate with colleagues on teaching materials and pastoral arrangements.
• Uphold GEMS policies, codes of conduct and safety standards.

• Ability to teach a range of learners, including ESL, gifted, and low‑academic‑ability students.
• Strong organisational skills for lesson planning and record keeping.
• Effective communicator with parents, colleagues and external partners.
