Lathe Machinist

About the role

The company is seeking a skilled Lathe Machinist to operate conventional lathe machines and produce precision components. The role involves setting up workpieces, selecting tools, and ensuring high‑quality finishes according to engineering drawings.

Key responsibilities

• Operate conventional lathe machines for turning, facing, boring, drilling and taper machining.
• Carry out valve seat taper machining to approved drawings and dimensions.
• Perform internal and external thread cutting to specified forms and sizes.
• Set up workpieces, select cutting tools and adjust speeds and feeds to meet tolerances and surface finish requirements.
• Inspect completed components and conduct routine machine care while maintaining safe workshop practices.

Required profile

• ITI, Diploma or relevant trade qualification in Machining, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Hands‑on experience operating and setting up conventional lathe machines.
• Proven ability to perform valve seat taper machining accurately.
• Experience in thread cutting, turning, boring and other precision machining activities.
