Manager – Ethics and Compliance

About the role

Sidra Medicine is looking for a Manager – Ethics and Compliance to oversee the development and implementation of compliance, regulatory and ethical standards across the organization. The role also acts as Privacy Officer, ensuring policies and procedures cover the privacy of and access to patient health information in line with Qatari law and the organization's information privacy practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures and guidelines, and monitor adherence through periodic audits and assessments
• Act as Compliance Officer and oversee the Privacy Officer and Research Integrity Officer functions
• Promote an ethical culture, deliver compliance and ethics training, update the code of conduct and set up confidential reporting and whistleblower protections
• Work with the Risk Manager to identify, assess and mitigate compliance and ethics risks, and oversee investigations into alleged violations
• Coordinate with internal audit and legal, and with the Governance and Risk Managers, and build relationships with regulators and industry bodies
• Manage projects, support the Director of Governance, Risk, Ethics and Compliance with KPI monitoring, and report regularly to senior leadership and the board
• Design compliance and ethics training modules for new hires and continuing education

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, law, ethics or a related field; Master's preferred
• 5+ years of managerial and compliance and ethics experience, including in large and complex organizations
• Experience conducting compliance audits, investigations and risk assessments, and with senior leaders and clinicians
• Experience in a healthcare setting and in a politically sensitive environment; experience drafting briefing papers and correspondence at senior level preferred
• Professional certification and membership in compliance and ethics fields preferred

Required skills

• Strong understanding of privacy laws such as GDPR, HIPAA and other regional data protection laws
• Project management, leadership and excellent written and verbal communication
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, and knowledge of corporate governance regulations
• Microsoft Office suite; fluent English, written and spoken Arabic
