Political Affairs Internship – UN Office of SRSG for Children & Armed Conflict

About the role

The Political Affairs Intern will support the Office of the SRSG for Children and Armed Conflict in Doha, contributing to research, outreach and advocacy activities that strengthen protection for children affected by armed conflict.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and reference searches on political, security and humanitarian issues related to children in armed conflict.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings, take notes at conferences and support collaborative projects.
• Prepare and format communication materials such as presentations, newsletters, website content and social media posts.
• Monitor news, press releases and social media, sharing relevant information with the team.
• Assist in drafting reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points and articles.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Fluency in English, Arabic and French (working languages of the UN Secretariat).
• Demonstrated interest in UN work and ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration tools.
