Postdoctoral Associate in Biomarkers and Translational Research (Parkinson's Disease)

About the role

The Postdoctoral Associate will lead research aimed at discovering and validating biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The role combines assay development, clinical sample analysis, and translational studies within Dr. Hilal Lashuel’s laboratory at Weill Cornell Medicine‑Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret experiments to identify diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers.
• Develop, optimize, and validate assays (e.g., ELISA, ultrasensitive immunoassays, seed amplification assays, mass spectrometry) for biofluids and tissue samples.
• Apply validated assays to clinical cohorts and biobank specimens, ensuring reproducibility and standardization.
• Collaborate with clinicians, biobanks, industry partners, and multidisciplinary teams to advance biomarker validation.
• Contribute to technology transfer, intellectual property activities, and preparation of manuscripts, grant applications, and conference presentations.

Required profile

• PhD in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Analytical Chemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Clinical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Post‑doctoral or equivalent research experience with a focus on assay development or biomarker research.
• Experience with human biofluids, clinical sample handling, and cohort‑based studies is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in ELISA, ultrasensitive immunoassays, seed amplification assays, and mass spectrometry.
• Knowledge of analytical validation parameters (sensitivity, specificity, precision, linearity, reproducibility).
• Data analysis using R or Python.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
