Head of Drug Quality Control Laboratory

About the role

The Head of Drug Quality Control Laboratory provides strategic leadership and expert oversight to ensure pharmaceutical products meet national and international quality standards. This senior position is responsible for directing all laboratory operations, guaranteeing the safety, potency, purity, and stability of medicines available to the public.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the laboratory team, including staffing, resource allocation, and budgeting.
• Oversee testing of pharmaceutical products for quality, potency, purity, stability, and therapeutic efficacy.
• Develop and implement testing protocols, ensuring compliance with GLP, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze drug samples from manufacturers, distributors, and regulatory agencies, investigating any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare detailed test reports, and manage corrective and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with national and international drug control agencies and ensure laboratory safety and waste disposal.
• Identify process optimization opportunities and drive continuous quality improvement.
• Plan staff training and development, and ensure adequate staffing and competency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmacy; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
