Postdoctoral Associate – Metabolism & Experimental Biology

About the role

The Dr. Halama Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine‑Qatar seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead cutting‑edge research on cancer metabolism and tumor progression. You will design, execute, and interpret laboratory experiments that integrate functional genomics, metabolic profiling, and experimental biology.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct independent experiments investigating metabolic pathways in cancer.
• Collaborate with principal investigators and multidisciplinary teams to develop study designs.
• Perform and optimize molecular techniques such as CRISPR‑Cas9 gene editing, cell‑based assays, and biochemical assays.
• Execute in‑vivo mouse model studies while ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
• Analyze data, prepare figures, and contribute to scientific manuscripts and conference presentations.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and mentor junior team members as needed.

Required profile

• PhD in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
• Post‑qualification research experience in cancer biology or metabolism.
• Strong ability to link experimental results to underlying biological mechanisms.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Functional and biochemical assays, including enzyme activity analysis
• Ex‑vivo mouse model work
• Metabolomics or multi‑omics approaches (advantageous)

• Basic proficiency in R or similar statistical tools (advantageous)
