Principal Geologist

About the role

The Principal Geologist will join QatarEnergy’s International non‑operated assets team, working closely with multi‑disciplinary project groups to deliver geological support across the full exploration value chain.

Key responsibilities

• Provide geological input for new venture screening, prospect and lead evaluation, drilling preparation and monitoring.
• Conduct integrated geoscience studies and QA/QC of operator work to support venture decisions and obtain management approval.
• Manage NOJV asset activities, including annual business plan submissions, scorecards, risk‑register updates and senior‑management reporting.
• Represent QatarEnergy in technical meetings, document minutes, communicate the company’s position and drive alignment with JV partners on synergies and cost‑saving opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement of assigned assets and regions through knowledge exchange and mentorship of junior staff.

Required profile

• 15+ years of geological exploration experience in international oil and gas companies.
• Proven track record of prospect maturation, geological risk assessment and resource volume estimation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams, manage projects and influence non‑operated JV partners.
• Extensive experience in diverse sedimentary basins worldwide, including pre‑ and post‑salt settings.
• Strong network in the Americas and experience with multiple IOCs on non‑operated ventures.
