Principal NDT Technician

About the role

The Principal NDT Technician leads inspection activities, ensuring effective coordination and continuous improvement of nondestructive testing processes across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform NDT examinations (PAUT, TOFD, PT, MT, ET, RT, MUT) according to project plans, procedures, codes and specifications.
• Determine acceptance or rejection of welds and materials based on defined criteria and report findings.
• Coordinate with Quality Inspectors, ensure rectified work is re‑inspected, and maintain equipment calibration records.
• Set up equipment, create scan plans, conduct system calibrations, and prepare accurate inspection reports.
• Support development of NDE techniques for complex geometries and train team members.

Required profile

• High school diploma or relevant degree.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the specific NDE method being hired for.
• ASNT, PCN or CSWIP Level II qualification.
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office and NDT preparation software (e.g., ES Beam).
• Occupational qualification to internationally recognized competency schemes.

Required skills

• PAUT, TOFD, PT, MT, ET, RT, MUT inspection methods.
• ASNT, PCN, CSWIP certification knowledge.
• Use of ES Beam tool and other NDT preparation software.
• Equipment setup, calibration, and maintenance.
• Interpretation of codes and acceptance criteria for weld quality.
