Procurement Assistant

About the role

The Procurement Assistant supports internal teams by managing the purchase of low to non‑critical goods and services. The role requires strict adherence to the company’s procurement policies, ensuring quality, timely delivery, and cost‑effectiveness while maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the full procurement cycle for low to non‑critical items, meeting time, cost, quality, and specification targets.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers by monitoring local market developments.
• Evaluate supplier performance regularly and recommend improvements.
• Analyse offers, compare specifications, prices, payment terms and delivery dates, and propose award to the best‑valued supplier.
• Assist superiors and end‑users in cost development according to established procedures.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of purchased goods by reviewing catalogues, trade journals and publications.
• Coordinate with QAFCO departments and external suppliers throughout the procurement process.
• Maintain accurate records in computer‑based procurement systems and paper filing.
• Support on‑the‑job training for new staff within the procurement section.

Required profile

• Minimum Diploma in a relevant discipline.
• At least 8 years of direct procurement experience, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical or large manufacturing environments.
• Good understanding of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) procedures, annual work programmes and budgets.
• Familiarity with integrated management systems (IMS) and related reporting requirements.
