Project Controls Director

About the role

The Project Controls Director leads the cost management function across the organization, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and aligned with financial objectives. This senior position combines strategic oversight with hands‑on monitoring of project expenditures, risk, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain project budgets, aligning them with corporate financial goals.
• Develop accurate cost estimates and financial forecasts to support planning and decision‑making.
• Continuously monitor project expenditures and produce detailed cost reports for stakeholders.
• Identify cost variances, provide explanations, and recommend corrective actions.
• Assess financial risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid cost overruns.
• Manage scope, schedule, and budget changes, ensuring proper documentation and approval.
• Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for cost performance.
• Oversee vendor contracts, ensuring compliance and controlling procurement costs.
• Ensure all cost‑control activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and internal policies.
• Communicate cost‑related information effectively to senior management and project teams.
• Support HSE initiatives and participate in safety awareness activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience, including at least 10 years in a management or leadership role.
• Advanced understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and tools.
• Expertise in project controls techniques such as scheduling, cost management, and risk analysis.
• Strong analytical abilities for interpreting project data and identifying trends.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills to coordinate teams and stakeholders.
• Experience in GCC environments is a plus.
