Purchasing Clerk

About the role

The Purchasing Clerk supports the procurement and inventory functions for food‑related operations, ensuring accurate records, timely deliveries, and compliance with safety standards. This position works closely with managers, vendors, and team members to maintain optimal stock levels.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate figures for food inventories, orders, and costs.
• Maintain organized records, file reports and invoices, and post invoices using computer programs.
• Conduct inventory audits, complete requisition forms, and notify supervisors of low stock.
• Verify and track received inventory, reconcile shipping invoices, and generate inventory reports.
• Receive, unload, and process deliveries; reject damaged or incorrect items.
• Troubleshoot vendor delivery issues and manage return processes.
• Adhere to food safety policies, monitor PAR levels, and report accidents or unsafe conditions.
• Follow company, safety, and security procedures; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, standing or walking for extended periods, and navigating confined spaces.

Required profile

• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects up to 50 lb without assistance.
• Capability to stand, sit, or walk for an entire shift and to bend, twist, stoop, and reach overhead.
• Attention to detail when reading small print and visually inspecting tools or equipment.
• Commitment to safety training, certifications, and reporting of hazards.
• Professional appearance and respect for co‑workers.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer applications for invoicing and inventory tracking.
• Basic knowledge of point‑of‑sale or inventory management systems.
