Repairman (Dual Trade - Ironwork)

About the role

This position is for a dual-trade ironwork repairman who takes part in plant shutdowns, repairs structures and carries out fabrication work. The role involves routine inspection of machine tools, prompt response to plant troubles and adherence to safe working practices.

Key responsibilities

• Execute major and monthly shutdown activities within the scheduled maintenance window
• Handle metal fixture assembly and welding of structures across the plant area
• Carry out structural repairs at site and fitment of liners, and fabrication work in the workshop
• Take part in all plant shutdown activities
• Carry out routine inspection and checking of machine tools
• Attend to plant troubles and abnormalities promptly
• Maintain safe working practices and write a daily log
• Perform overtime, stand-by and call-out duty when required

Required profile

• Technical Diploma / ITI in Mechanical or Welding from a reputed college/institute, or NCVT certificate in Welder / Fitter trade
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a mechanical repairman involving fabrication and repair
• Ability to read drawings to international standards and fabricate and install items accordingly
• Basic computer skills

Required skills

• Welding certifications for 6G positions; TIG and SMAW, plus SMAW and FCAW
• Ability to identify materials and matching welding rods, and to weld copper, aluminum and CS
• Air carbon arc gouging
• Lifting tools and tackle, safe lifting, rigging and slinging, and operation of a pendant crane
• Knowledge of safety procedures and standards
