Senior Accounts Payable and General Ledger (Healthcare)

About the role

A hospital in Doha is looking for a senior accountant to oversee its accounts payable and general ledger activities. The role covers accurate postings and reconciliations, timely payments, month-end and year-end closing, and supervising junior accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee hospital accounts payable and general ledger activities, ensuring accurate postings, reconciliations and timely payments.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing, reviewing accruals, prepayments, provisions and balance sheet schedules.
• Review supplier discrepancies, expenditure allocations and payment controls, coordinating with Procurement and departmental budget owners.
• Prepare financial reports and audit schedules, supervise junior accountants and strengthen accounting procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 6 years of accounting experience, including 3 years in a hospital or healthcare organization.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA or equivalent.

Required skills

• Strong experience in financial closing and internal controls.
• Experience with ERP systems and Excel.
• Supervision of accounting staff.
