Senior Construction Engineer - Piping & Civil Works

About the role

This position covers the supervision of civil construction and piping modification work within improvement projects at oil and gas facilities. The engineer plans, coordinates and monitors site activities so that works follow project specifications, policies, method statements and schedules, and ensures coordination with contractors and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee civil construction and piping modification work in line with project specifications, policies, method statements and schedules.
• Plan and coordinate site activities and resources for piping, civil, structural, finishing, concrete/steel, excavation, backfilling, dewatering, rebar, formwork and concreting.
• Estimate man-hour requirements, plan work schedules, assign and direct subordinates, and attend the site during assigned tasks.
• Coordinate with main and primary contractors and subcontractors, allocate work, and hold safety talks before tasks.
• Review problems affecting the schedule with the Civil Engineer and resolve them through attendance, participation or delegation to technicians.
• Prepare and review method statements, work instructions, material approval requests and risk mitigation procedures before approval.
• Contribute to completion dossiers, monitor contractor QA/QC against company energy standards, and clear stage-wise RFIs.
• Take part in site progress meetings, raise technical and constructability issues with the line manager and contractors, and liaise with operations and maintenance planning, including plant shutdowns.
• Report weekly progress, resource needs, drawing availability, schedule look-ahead and any delays or deviations to management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution or university.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in piping and civil engineering in a large manufacturing facility in the oil and gas sector.
• Additional technical or management qualifications or certifications in onshore construction and piping are an advantage.
