Senior Database Administrator

About the role

The Senior Database Administrator will provide comprehensive administration support for all HBKU databases, ensuring they remain reliable, highly available, scalable, and secure. This role is critical to maintaining the performance and integrity of the university's data infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and support Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and PostgreSQL databases across the institution.
• Maintain database reliability, availability, scalability, performance, and security at all times.
• Design, implement, and manage disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for enterprise databases.
• Collaborate with research and academic teams to support application development and data initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology‑related field from an accredited institution.
• 6–8 years of experience in academic or research‑focused application development.
• Proven experience installing, configuring, fine‑tuning, and managing Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and PostgreSQL environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in disaster recovery and business continuity for enterprise databases.
