Senior Lead Estimator (Electrical)

About the role

The Senior Lead Estimator (Electrical) will drive the preparation of accurate, competitive cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical works across infrastructure, utilities, industrial and building projects. You will work closely with engineering, procurement and project teams to ensure bids are technically compliant and commercially attractive.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of detailed electrical cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
• Review drawings, specifications, BOQs and tender documents to define scope, identify risks and uncover commercial opportunities.
• Prepare quantity take‑offs, cost build‑ups, estimate reconciliations and pricing for MV/LV systems, substations, power distribution, lighting, earthing and related works.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement and project teams to produce accurate, competitive bids.
• Obtain, evaluate and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions, identify risks and support tender strategies.
• Review contractor estimates, variation requests and pricing submissions, providing commercial and technical recommendations.
• Support value‑engineering initiatives to optimise project costs while maintaining compliance.
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost benchmarks and market pricing information.
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements, company procedures, quality standards and commercial confidentiality.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 13–15+ years of experience in electrical estimation for infrastructure, utilities, industrial or large‑scale building projects.
• Strong knowledge of MV/LV systems, substations, power distribution, lighting, earthing, cable routing and electrical installation.
• Proficiency with estimation software, quantity take‑off tools, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
• Understanding of value engineering, cost planning, tendering procedures, FIDIC contracts and commercial risk management.
• Familiarity with local material pricing, labour productivity, subcontractor management and electrical construction methodologies.
• GCC experience preferred; MMUP/UPDA Engineer Registration is a plus.
