Senior Mechanical Engineer – Buildings & Infrastructure

About the role

GHD is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex mechanical systems for buildings, infrastructure and industrial projects in Doha. The role combines technical excellence, project leadership and direct client interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of mechanical engineering systems across concept, detailed design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Ensure compliance with international standards (ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA, CIBSE) and local authority regulations.
• Drive design quality through technical reviews, calculations, simulations, value engineering and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Utilise advanced modelling and digital tools such as Revit, BIM workflows and energy‑modelling platforms.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior and mid‑level engineers.
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical and specialist teams for integrated design solutions.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and performance assessments to verify design intent.
• Lead mechanical design reviews, identify risks and gaps, and implement practical engineering solutions.
• Support project managers with progress tracking, risk management and schedule adherence.
• Engage directly with clients to present solutions, resolve challenges and build long‑term relationships.
• Contribute to innovation, sustainability strategies and digital engineering improvements.

Required profile

• At least 96 months (8 years) of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary projects in the building or infrastructure sector.
• Strong knowledge of international codes (ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA, CIBSE) and local authority approval processes.
• Ability to produce technical reports, specifications and detailed calculations.
• Experience with BIM and digital engineering tools.
