Senior Optician (Pediatric Focus)

About the role

We are a newly established Qatari‑owned optical practice looking for an experienced dispensing optician to lead our paediatric dispensing services. This senior appointment will shape standards, protocols and audit processes while collaborating closely with ophthalmologists and optometrists across Doha.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescription eyewear to children of all ages, from infants to teenagers.
• Validate prescriptions and resolve queries with referring practitioners.
• Perform precise paediatric measurements (monocular PD, vertical centration, vertex distance, pantoscopic angle).
• Select and fit frames for small faces, low‑bridge, special‑needs and infant patients.
• Dispense specialist and myopia‑control lenses according to design specifications.
• Verify all incoming laboratory work against prescriptions before collection.
• Maintain laboratory liaison, quality management and turnaround performance.
• Provide clinical liaison and written reports to referring practitioners.
• Develop dispensing protocols, standards and audit processes.
• Supervise and mentor dispensing and support staff.

Required profile

• Recognised dispensing optician qualification from an accredited programme.
• Minimum two years post‑qualification experience.
• Eligibility for, or holding, a Qatar DHP (QCHP) dispensing optician licence.
• Proven competence dispensing to and fitting young children.
• Experience with complex prescriptions (high‑power, high‑index, aphakic, anisometropic).
• Background in paediatric or hospital dispensing.
• Arabic (preferred) and English language proficiency.
