Ship Terminal Assurance Officer

About the role

The Ship Terminal Assurance Officer provides specialised expertise to ensure safe and efficient LNG marine terminal operations for the LNG Shipping Department of the QatarEnergy Marketing Directorate. The role oversees ship‑shore interface activities, compatibility assessments and supports Emergency Ship‑to‑Ship (ESTS) and commercial STS transfer services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct global LNG marine terminal assurance and compliance checks.
• Administer ship‑shore interface procedures and verify compatibility of vessels.
• Coordinate and manage ESTS and commercial STS transfer operations.
• Ensure adherence to HSSE standards throughout all terminal activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of marine experience in LNG or LPG transportation.
• Familiarity with a wide variety of LNG ship types and conditions.
• High flexibility and strong conceptual thinking abilities.
• Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) standards in the oil & gas and marine sectors.
• Class 1 Marine Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner or Chief Engineer) or a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marine Studies or a related field.

Required skills

• Class 1 Marine Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner or Chief Engineer).
• Extensive LNG/LPG transportation experience.
• Knowledge of HSSE standards applicable to oil & gas and marine environments.
• Proficiency in Ship‑to‑Ship (STS) and Emergency Ship‑to‑Ship (ESTS) transfer procedures.
