Substation Engineer (Power Utility, Oil & Gas, Data Center)

About the role

We are looking for a Substation Engineer to lead the design, integration and commissioning of substation automation systems for power utility, oil & gas and data‑center projects. The role combines hands‑on engineering with on‑site execution and frequent international travel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system engineering, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for substation automation solutions.
• Commission, troubleshoot and test SCADA platforms, PLCs, load‑shedding and power‑management systems.
• Implement IEC 61850‑based digital substations and ensure compliance with IEC 60870‑5‑104, Modbus and OPC protocols.
• Configure and maintain industrial switches, VLANs, PRP/HSR redundancy and network architectures.
• Support OT cybersecurity measures following IEC/ISA 62443 standards.
• Provide on‑site support for more than 50 % of the year and travel internationally for validation activities.

Required profile

• 2–8 years of experience in power utility, oil & gas or data‑center projects.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Schneider EcoStruxure Power Operation, Schneider Quantum/M340/M580 PLCs and Siemens S7.
• Proven expertise in load‑shedding, load‑sharing and power‑management systems.
• Comfortable working on‑site for extended periods and travelling frequently.
