Technical Director - Airport

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead the technical strategy and execution for a major airport project in Doha, Qatar. You will be responsible for overseeing all mission‑critical systems, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive technical strategies aligned with airport operational goals and international aviation standards.
• Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of airport technology systems, including AODB, baggage handling, security, and passenger information systems.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse technical team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Manage technical budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement to optimize cost‑efficiency and performance.
• Ensure compliance with ICAO regulations, local aviation authority requirements, and safety protocols.
• Analyze system performance metrics and apply data‑driven solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Coordinate with operations, security, and customer service teams to provide seamless technical support.
• Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans for all critical systems.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in airport operations, aviation technology, or related infrastructure management.
• At least 5 years in a technical leadership or management role overseeing teams.
• Strong knowledge of ICAO regulations and international aviation standards.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets and complex vendor relationships.
