Testing & Commissioning Engineer – Substation Automation Systems

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Testing & Commissioning Engineer to lead the configuration, testing and commissioning of Substation Automation Systems across Qatar. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of control, automation and monitoring equipment in line with project and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, test and commission Siemens SICAM PAS and SICAM A8000 platforms.
• Perform HMI and SCADA engineering, parameterisation, configuration and WinCC scripting.
• Integrate and commission Bay Control Units, protection relays, RTUs, energy meters and multi‑vendor IEDs.
• Engineer, configure and troubleshoot IEC 61850, Modbus and IEC 60870‑5‑104 communication protocols.
• Execute FAT, SAT, functional testing, interlocking checks, redundancy validation and end‑to‑end system testing.
• Set up and troubleshoot industrial networks, including managed switches, firewalls, VLANs, routing and secure remote access.
• Implement and verify cybersecurity measures and system hardening in accordance with standards.
• Prepare engineering documentation such as point lists, test procedures, commissioning reports, network diagrams and as‑built records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communication, Control Systems or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience with Substation Automation Systems, SCADA or protection and control commissioning.
• Proven experience with Siemens SICAM PAS, SICAM A8000 and WinCC platforms.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 61850, Modbus and IEC 60870‑5‑104 protocols.
• Experience integrating protection relays, IEDs, RTUs and automation equipment from multiple vendors.
• Understanding of industrial networks, OT infrastructure and cybersecurity concepts.
• Familiarity with SIMARIS Control is an advantage.
