Traffic Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Traffic Engineer to lead traffic operations on a construction project in Qatar. The role involves planning, implementing and managing traffic control measures to ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles, pedestrians and equipment around the site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage on‑site traffic operations to ensure safe and efficient movement of vehicles, pedestrians and construction equipment.
• Develop and implement traffic management plans that comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
• Design, coordinate and oversee installation of temporary traffic control devices such as signs, barriers and signals.
• Obtain necessary traffic permits and approvals by coordinating with local authorities and stakeholders.
• Monitor traffic flow, respond to incidents and adjust plans to minimise impact on construction schedules.
• Conduct site inspections to verify proper implementation and maintenance of traffic measures.
• Prepare and review traffic control layouts, ensuring alignment with project design and safety standards.
• Analyse traffic patterns and recommend adjustments to improve safety and reduce disruptions.
• Collaborate with construction teams to schedule lane closures, detours and other disruptions.
• Maintain communication with contractors, authorities and other stakeholders regarding traffic management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in traffic engineering, preferably on construction sites.
• Proven experience developing and implementing traffic management plans for construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of local, state and national traffic regulations and standards.
