Welding Engineer

About the role

The Welding Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing welding processes and procedures that meet project specifications and industry standards. The role works closely with cross‑functional teams to optimise welding techniques, ensure safety, and resolve technical issues throughout production and turnaround phases.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement welding processes tailored to specific projects and material requirements.
• Conduct inspections and audits of welding activities to ensure compliance with standards such as ASME, API and AWS.
• Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance, production and engineering teams on welding‑related challenges.
• Collaborate with stakeholders (maintenance, engineering, project management, fabrication) to integrate welding activities into overall project plans.
• Develop and deliver training programs on welding techniques, safety practices and equipment usage.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of welding procedures, qualifications and inspection results, and generate reports for audits.
• Stay informed on emerging welding technologies and evaluate their applicability to company projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of hands‑on welding engineering experience, preferably in Oil & Gas, petrochemical or heavy manufacturing.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing welding practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
