Accountant

About the role

Baker Tilly Qatar is hiring an Accountant in Doha. The role covers recording and processing transactions, managing receivables and payables, preparing financial reports and supporting the closing process.

Key responsibilities

• Record and process journal entries so that all business transactions are accurately captured.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts.
• Manage accounts receivable, including updating records, issuing invoices and following up on outstanding balances.
• Manage accounts payable, including processing invoices, maintaining records and performing reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and other financial reports.
• Review and verify expenses, payroll records and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and ad hoc financial reports.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing, and assist with budget, revenue projection and expenditure forecast preparation.
• Prepare financial analyses and support management decisions.
• Assist with annual audit preparation and investigate discrepancies and audit findings.
• Support tax and statutory reporting and help improve accounting processes.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external parties, support senior accountants and guide junior staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 2-4 years of relevant accounting experience; similar role experience preferred.
• Professional accounting certification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Fluency in Arabic and English, written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, and to handle confidential financial information discreetly.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations and general ledger processes.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and month-end/year-end closing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.
• Good understanding of financial controls, audit requirements and accounting standards.
